Thank you for bringing up the breakfast fruit thing on the white lotus. Whenever we get free breakfasts at a hotel my kid takes this privilege very seriously and it always makes me smile. He gets my parents to have juice tastings and ranking food items all sorts of fun and how sad to miss out on that! You just got me excited for our family trip this summer.

I am rereading Hidden Figures because we're doing it for one of my book clubs. I forgot just how excellent it is (and much more nuanced than the film, which I still enjoyed but you know, Hollywood treatment).

Swimming Pretty is a fantastic history of synchronized swimming (and swimming in general). Learned lots and it's a fun story!

After finally reading The Women by Kristin Hannah I went back to one of her sources and read Home Before Morning by Lynda Van Devanter, a memoir from a nurse in Vietnam. Really compelling story. I found the book at my local library.

I am currently reading Intermezzo by Sally Rooney. The relationship between the brothers Ivan and Peter is most interesting to me.

Last month I read How You Get the Girl by Anita Kelly- a high school girls basketball coach recruits a former college basketball player who she always had a crush on to be her assistant coach. I liked the portrayal of coaching high schoolers as someone married to a high school sports coach! This book is third in a series but definitely can be stand alone. Her twin sister and best friend’s stories were the previous 2 books.

I also loved Freaks, Gleeks and Dawson’s Creek: How 7 Teen Shows Transformed Television by Thea Glassman. I had watched and loved every show explored and it was a late 90s/early 2000s tv delight-Fresh Prince, My So Called Life, Dawson’s Creek, Freaks and Geeks, The O.C., Friday Night Lights, and Glee are all featured.

Also I LOVE baggu bags my god. I have of course my big bag full of reusable bags, but...the baggu is the one that lives in my purse.

+1 for the “big bag of reusable bags.” There are now at least three of these organisms growing in my house/car. Where do all the canvas totes come from?!

OMG I have SO MANY of those bags of bags and I never actually...use them?? Trying to remember to use them when I need bags to sort donations at least. Whew. They just multiply.

We keep one bag of bags in the car, and put it back there (or at the door to go back out) RIGHT after unpacking groceries it helps a lot.

My Mother has now decided this is The Thing she buys us everywhere. heads to an island? Comes back with reusable bags and some hyper local artist piece with a frog on it. Another country? reusable bags. The store? reusable bags.

I’ve been reading The Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn. It was $4 on Apple’s bookstore. I took Latin in high school so parts of it are bits that I learned about and it’s a nice escape from *gestures vaguely*. And, I love Baggu! The baby bag is just right for a 6-pack. I try to carry one or two in my every day backpack and they get plenty of use.

I had pre-ordered The Float Test, so I am basically salivating until my copy arrives! I would have purchased it anyway, broke or not, but when she said that it was the novel "of her heart" I couldn't hit the pre-order button fast enough!!

YES to the Baggu shopping bags!!! Corinne got me hooked on Baggu, for which I am eternally grateful! I have several of these sturdy (and CUTE!!!) bags, and also the zippered bags! I was actually using small Ziplock bags for some things in my purse, but NO LONGER :D

I have that same Baggu collapsible tote in the large size. It is absurd and wonderful and I use it for all the things.

I just finished two excellent books: The Bog Wife and Beautyland. (Bog Wife is creepy but not scary, fwiw) Highly recommend!

Also I loved that we finally saw someone eating NOT fruit at a white lotus breakfast before…you know…

WHALE FALL by Elizabeth O’ Connor is so atmospheric and delicious. A treat! Also GLORIOUS EXPLOITS which I know everyone is talking about but honestly the hype is real. Truly one of the most unique tales ever ever ever.

Currently listening to Careless People, and I was immediately hooked. It’s not just a compelling premise, it’s really well written!

Also reading Rise of the Jumbies, book 2 in a middle grade / YA fantasy series about Caribbean mermaid mythology, and an Agatha Christie Miss Marple mystery, The Body in the Library.
