I’m so glad someone is doing this. You get really mixed advice on what to donate for food pantries. I’ve volunteered with different food banks before and I still don’t know. Some places want staples, like rice, some want ready to eat. I love this idea of giving choice. It’s such a wonderful way to give people dignity as well as help. I’m going to set up a recurring donation.
Donated. Thank you for bringing this organization to our attention, I hope they get more of the recognition they deserve! ED recovery care workers are doing brave, hard, heavy work, and I’m so grateful for and to them. ❤️
Yay!! I was so excited to get the notification that Elizabeth was on Burnt Toast. Me Little Me has been doing incredible work that deserves more exposure and support 🙌🏽
I just donated! I put “Burnt Toast” in the comments hopefully that was the right thing to do for tracking purposes for the matching donation goal! If not let me know and I can send an email with my receipt.
This is a really interesting and respectful approach to feeding folks. I just set up the bird buddy that I got for Christmas over 1 year ago and haven’t gotten any shots as gorgeous as the ones you’ve shared yet, but we are starting to get some actual birds instead of exclusively squirrels which seems promising.
Good call. It’s currently in a tree which is decidedly not squirrel proof. I’m a little bit limited and choice of spots because I live in a neighborhood with shared common base and close together houses so it’s hard to strike a balance between getting photos of birds without invading the privacy of my neighbors. I’m gonna keep workshopping it though.
This is perfect timing, as I'm looking to channel my rage at hearing a mom say behind me yesterday at a school concert, speaking of a girl no more than 13 "Oh, you know, she's worried about the science fair, she's worried about her weight". THOSE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME, LADY!
Donated! Things are tight right now, but when they loosen up ( soon 🤞🏻) I will set up a recurring donation. I’m also sharing this so more people can help.
Done and recurring. The lack of autonomy and the restriction of dignity in the typical food bank world is such a problem. So glad to see this counterpoint approach!
Loved this episode and grateful to be able to contribute to this program. I appreciated the way Elizabeth called out the narrow representation of eating disorder treatment/recovery in media. And congrats again to her on completing and releasing the film!
I love that you're talking about this. I've spent a LOT of time in eating disorder treatment centers, and I've had so many conversations with fellow patients with marginalized identities who struggle tremendously with the deluded perspective of the carceral care system. Accessibility of care is such a crisis, and even once you access it, there are so many logistical gaps in following their out-of-touch suggestions.
Thank you for highlighting this incredibly practical service— and I will be watching the film.
I gave a little. If we all give a little it adds up to a lot
Absolutely!
Just donated, so happy to be part of this community :)
Thank you so much!

Thank you Carmel!!
I should confirm that I did do that. I realized I said I was going to. 🤪
Just set up a recurring donation!

Thank you! Tbh we didn’t get organized to figure that out 😅 but Burnt Toast in comments is perfect!

I had to experiment with where to put it in my yard! And get a very good squirrel-proof pole.

What an incredible innovation! I am so glad to learn of this food pantry and thrilled to support

Also -- don't forget to round up and cover the fees on your donation!
YES, a big help, thanks for flagging!
Gahhhhhhh
