You Guys, She Knows About Divorce
Plus: My doctor wanted me to lose weight. Turned out I just needed to breathe in my sleep.
On Tuesday, I wrote about how my doctor wanted me to lose weight for my sleep apnea…but ope! Turns out that’s not what I needed or what the science supports!
ICYMI, this piece is actually the 4th installment in a series I’ve been writing since last fall called The Sleep Apnea Diaries. I’ve also written about:
Weight stigma and sleep apnea
My fat neck
My experience with two sleep studies
And one cool thing about Patreon is that you can pay less than $15 to read the whole series (plus every new piece I add to it!), without having to become a member. You can also pick and choose and read whichever essays most intrigue you for just $4 a pop.
Or you can subscribe for just $10 per month and get The Sleep Apnea Diaries plus every other paywalled essay and episode in the Burnt Toast universe!
Meanwhile on the podcast, we had Queen Lindy West!!! And yes, you guys, she knows about divorce, ok?
I’ve been having many thoughts about The Lindy Discourse this week, and about how we respond to fat women/women making choices we’re uncomfortable with in public… I may write about that for Tuesday if I can nail it down into something coherent? Stay tuned!
And we’ve also started a new experiment where we release one beloved essay from the archives per month, as a little treat to free subscribers! (Because yes, we love you too!)
So go read the March pick — it’s a juicy one!
One Good Thing
New York had Fake Spring this week and it’s already gone but it WAS perfect Princess Diana Weather!! This romper is both largely weather-impractical and only available up to XXL (which I am wearing) so do with that information what you will, but I think I’ll wear it around the house quite a bit? Rest of outfit linked here.
PS. Making this reel made me laugh so much. But normalize CPAPs! I will die on this hill!
And Joanna Goddard did a great roundup of excellent therapist advice over on Big Salad last week, and I was delighted to share mine. 🐈⬛
