The reporting on the Women’s Health Initiative makes me think of the incredibly misleading and widely publicized reporting on how semaglutide reduced cardiovascular events by 20%, when the absolute risk reduction was only 2%. Ragen Chastain did a fantastic breakdown of this! And if anyone wants to nerd out, highly highly recommend her posts on stats reporting red flags (this one delves more into relative vs. absolute risk): https://weightandhealthcare.substack.com/p/common-terminology-and-statistics?utm_source=post-banner&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=posts-open-in-app&triedRedirect=true

My husband bought me the Bed Jet last year. I love it!

What a great spouse

Three cheers for the Bed Jet! Bonus for me: My 13 year old likes to hang out with me in bed in the evening while we read and the machine blows warm air under the covers.

Well I love that and you for putting this on our collective radar.

Another round of cheers for soft serve! The availability of good soft serve ice cream and frozen custard is one of the things I miss most about the midwest, where I grew up. I guess I can be grateful for nearly year-round ice cream weather in Los Angeles!

My immediate thought for Judy saying she doesn’t want to move her body because of the sweating is to do aquatic activities. I feel so much cooler submerged in water and no one knows whether it is water or sweat all over my face!

LOVE this suggestion

I don’t like ice cream nearly as much as my kids, they eat it almost every day and immediately go to the deep freezer at my in-laws’ house after school but I do love an ice cream date! My favorite is near gymnastics so we always go when they go to that camp. And mini golf with ice cream is my favorite beach outing.

My very thin MIL recently got the cholesterol lecture and she was frustrated that the dr assumed her eating habits based on her numbers- I know her dad was on meds for a long time but he lived to be 92 so I feel like he did well with them! Every symptom I seem to have lately comes up under perimenopause so I guess it’s time, I found it very discouraging that my mom told me she had night sweats for like 15 years before menopause.

Solo ice cream time! Which reminds me I need to get some Ben and Jerry’s when I go out later.

Solo ice cream time, ice cream time with kids, with friends, with strangers! :)
