Come See Me IRL!
It's time for the FAT TALK paperback book tour! Plus the cutest ornament.
Hello friends,
As you probably know (because I told you a bunch!) my beloved second book, Fat Talk: Parenting in the Age of Diet Culture, came out in paperback last month. It’s been so much fun to see a flurry of you sharing the book on Instagram and elsewhere again—I am just thrilled about what this book has become, and is doing, out in the world.
I was a little less thrilled about that December pub date though, because the holidays are a rough time to promote a book! But now it’s January… aka Diet Culture Super Bowl. Everyone is joining gyms, getting shredded, cutting out food groups, starting Ozempic, all the things. Diet noise and anti-fatness are loud right now!
So may I offer you two anti-diet, fat positive safe spaces, in the form of the Fat Talk Paperback Book Tour?
Stop 1: January 18, 7pm at Split Rock Books (Cold Spring, NY)
I’ll be in conversation with my longtime best friend,
(of Yummy Toddler Food fame). She’ll also be signing her beautiful cookbook, Dinnertime SOS. And we’ll be chatting about all things food/bodies/divorced motherhood. OG fans, it will be like an episode of Comfort Food, but IRL!No registration required, but full details here.
Stop 2: January 23, 7pm at Books Are Magic (Brooklyn, NY)
For this one, I’ll be in conversation with Helen Rosner, staff writer for The New Yorker, award-winner restaurant critic and food writer, and one of my personal style icons. We’ll certainly discuss food and fatness, but please understand I will also be fangirling over Helen quite a bit.
Tickets required for this one, full details here and out of towners, you can also livestream it!
Come to one or both, escape the weight loss ads and diet tips in your group chats for an hour, and leave with some great books.
I cannot wait to see your faces!

PS. How sweet is this Fat Talk ornament, which a new friend made me for Christmas?
I bought Dinnertime SOS a few months ago and my very selective partner has made several recipes!!! It's also Yummy Adult Food (not just toddler 😂)
What an incredible gift!! Where is the other sweet ornament from in the picture-- she looks handmade but is she somewhere I can buy? She would totally fit in well on my tree :)
