This is not a home decor newsletter, but it is a newsletter about taking up the space we need and want in this world. Also I just like home stuff, even though of course it’s complicated. But so very fun to talk about! So forgive the slight departure from/expansion on our theme today?

Something you may not know about me is that I am the nosiest person when I go to someone’s house for the first time and I absolutely want to hear all the stories about how you found it, what projects you’ve done or not done, and all its little quirks and surprises. And I love to see how we all make our spaces work for us. So I asked a few friends—including my husband-turned-neighbor!— to send me pics and thoughts about their favorite chairs, bedrooms, cozy nooks, and cat spas. Yes I said cat spas!

I’ll go first: I’ve always loved my house, where we’ve lived for almost 8 years. But since my kids’ dad moved out last summer, I’ve been having so much fun changing up art, bedding and other bits and pieces to make the whole space feel more like me—and like the home I want to make with, and for, my girls. I spent years leaning into neutrals, but it turns out I love a pop of color and a little whimsy? And last week, I finally finished a very fun project that I’ve been dreaming about forever.
