One Very Good Tip for Fat Travel Joy
Plus what I packed to visit Corinne in New Mexico!
Friday Thread: What’s Your Best Travel Hack?
I spent last week visiting
in New Mexico. We have been working together on Burnt Toast since the fall of 2021 and this was our first time meeting in person! Which is wild and you’ll hear more scoop in the next Indulgence Gospel because we recorded it TOGETHER, nestled between every pillow in my hotel room. (Shoutout to our audio engineer Tommy, who is gonna make some audio magic happen with that!)Otherwise, we mostly ate burritos, soaked in the hot springs of Ojo Caliente, and went on various Georgia O’Keeffe pilgrimages where I was both deeply moved by the story of a woman who lived alone and made art well into her 80s and learned how to spell her name. It was glorious and I had the unusual experience of feeling like I packed very effectively for this trip.
I am someone who is much more often prone to mid-travel regret that I didn’t bring XYZ items, or that I brought far more than I needed. But this time I wore everything except two shirts! (OK fine and a rain jacket but that’s bc the weather was perfect.) Everything sort of went together! And I was comfy and also pretty darn cute! And I didn’t even have to check a bag! I realized afterwards that there was one key reason for this somewhat stunning success.
