All the Halloween Costume Feelings

Size issues, gender norms, or maybe you actually enjoy this weekend??

OK, as promised, today’s Friday Thread is a place to process all of your Halloween Costume feelings. Are you dressing up? Are you abstaining? Are you actually excited about your or your kids’ costumes, or has it been a quagmire of stress and feelings?

I’ve already discussed my kids’ costumes and my complicated feelings about Halloween here and here, so I won’t go into it all again. But I do have an update! I have figured out a costume, that is actually a couple costume with Dan, and it is absolutely NOT sexy or gender normative and I can mostly wear my own clothes, so def fat positive too. Also people will probably have no idea who we are unless you had the same Covid Lockdown comfort show as us. So that is one clue! I will say no more, but you can post your guesses in the comments if you want, and I’ll reveal it at some point this weekend on Instagram and TikTok (yes this is me making you come follow me on TikTok) assuming we get a decent photo together. (There is one component of my costume that I had to order and it hasn’t arrived so I also reserve the right to return to my original plan of just not dressing up at all!)
