Friday Thread: What Are You Wearing Right Now?
We did our first Fat Fashion Concierge thread back in January. It holds the record for most comments ever on a Burnt Toast post and they are all killer no filler—just relentlessly useful recs for snow pants, bras, maternity clothes, formalwear, you name it. So my plan right now is to repeat the Concierge at least seasonally. And it’s truly NOT spring where I live, but it is March, and I am spiritually ready to think about the next season of dressing, even if I’m typing this in a big sweater and fleece slippers. So…fake spring is a season, let’s do this!
What are you shopping for right now? And/or what great fat fashion finds do you have to report?
Here’s how Fat Fashion Concierge works:
Tell us what you’re shopping for, and be as specific as possible. (Include your usual size range, fabric preferences, any other details.)
Respond to any comments you can help with. We love links, general feedback if you own the thing, and please include the item’s available size range in numbers. If you have intel on how true to size a brand’s plus sizes are, please also share. Is the 3X a legit 3X or is it a fat-washed XL.
If you are able to suggest a brand that goes ABOVE 3X, please put the name in ALL CAPS. This helps superfat folks scroll past the recs that won’t work for them (which is, depressingly, most of the recs) and find the most inclusive options.
Straight-sized folks, you’re welcome to participate but please only respond to plus size queries if you have firsthand knowledge of the item/brand you love working for a fat person.
If you can, stop by later in the day or over the weekend and sort the comments by “newest,” so later arrivals still get good intel!
