I also had a therapist tell me that carbs actually do make us feel better emotionally, and that it was important to do things that make me feel better, so if that means eating bread or pasta, go for it. I don’t know if I appreciated at the time how much that message meant to me, but it was such an important reframe of the role that food should play and that my mental health was part of and as important as my physical well-being.
