I haven't even read what is sure to be a great interview yet because I immediately had to come here and say: Claire! Claire Ayoub! On Burnt Toast! I went to college with Claire and have been following the development of Empire Waist, and I can't tell you how excited I am to see her in the newsletter I read almost every day. HOORAY! What a day!

What a great interview! I loved it. I’m so excited for this movie! The care and consideration you’ve put into the visual storytelling in this film, wow — I can’t tell you how much it meant to me to read that a director cares that much about representation and being careful with triggers so that the story can reach her audience in the right way.

Btw - Libby and Hoopla and audiobooks are the best, they’ve really helped me and have become my go-to way to relax. Gonna check that one out right now, thanks! ❤️❤️

It’s showing in Vancouver! Now I just need to get to the theater…

Hot(cake) tip! Even if you’re using premixed batter, let the mix sit after adding your liquid ingredients for about 10 min before scooping out the portions and cooking. It helps hydrate the mix better and you get nice, fluffy pancakes!

I cannot even believe you've gotten this movie into a theater near me (90 mins north of atlanta)!

Just trying to figure out how to get way from work for time to see it.

So excited to see this and disappointed that it's not at any theaters near me, but I will take action and ask for it to be shown!

Didn’t know where to comment but as the opposite to this affirming film have you read milk fed? It was so horrifying in the way disordered eating and larger bodies were portrayed

We talked about this on a recent books thread! I disliked it intensely. Emma Copley Eisenberg has written a great review exploring the fatphobia of it all.

I will need to find! It was deeply disturbing. Glad I’m not alone!

Just saw ‘the blue angel’ 1930 and the majority of the cast were fat. I kinda liked that!
