The posts about intergenerational issues are so important to me -- relating to both our kids and our parents. Really stuff that I find informs my thoughts on a daily basis.

As I look down the barrel of a holiday with my brother-in-law, who I believe has disordered eating (that doesn't register on people because he's a man and no one thinks about men having diet issues), and my mother-in-law, who will spend the whole holiday urging him to eat more than he is willing to have, I realize I would love to hear what you have to say about men sometime.

I am so happy to learn of your success! I am so grateful for your newsletters and threads. I have been moved by so many stories from you and your readers. I learn so much each time. I am getting better, week by week, of resisting my default urge to internalize fat shaming items from newspapers or items from the doctor's office. And your book has been a revelation, too. Thank you, enjoy your year end break, and keep those excellent stories coming in 2022.

I am thrilled to be a paid subscriber to this newsletter and share my enthusiasm with others regularly. Though I hope and expect that you will continue writing and researching the ways adults can combat internalized fat phobia and disordered thought/action eating patterns, I am especially grateful for the writing and conversations you moderate on parenting. With two teenaged daughters inhabiting very different physical bodies and possessing very different kinds of palates, I take a LOT of pauses before I speak about their choices (and then I stay paused, more often than not!). Every bit of information about how to frame our conversations is useful for me. I refuse to raise daughters to be at war with their beautiful, useful, miraculous bodies.

Always look forward to your posts, thank you, happy well-earned holidays! P.S. Have never had Marmite but as an Australian I LOVE Vegemite and when my eldest declared she loved it too I thought, my job here is done.

I don't know how I didn't know you had a newsletter until recently, but I'm so glad I found it, because it's just what I need. I am loving the newsletter format so much, and I love these threads. I am more into vegemite than marmite, but they are both good. Bracing myself for a family xmas full of oversharing about disordered eating practices and everyone judging what's on my plate! Glad to know there's an army of 10k who has my back on the internal eyerolling I'll be doing. :)

I'm glad to hear you're doing so successfully. I've been reading various writers on the subject since about 2014, and it always seems like such a niche topic. People look at me sideways when I bring it up, like intuitive eating and not dieting are such alien concepts. But it feels like the message might finally be percolating out.
