Great take, I agree with many of her points. I cooked professionally when my daughters were babies. Meal time was never a problem in our house. I served them a plate. They could eat what they wanted or not. No saying "I don't like XX colored food" or "that's yucky" If they didn't like the taste of something, I asked them to describe what they didn't like - too salty, too sweet, too mushy, too crunchy, or whatever. It always made them in control of their food. also, let your kids help in the kitchen, and teach them to cook. This empowers their food choices more than anything for the rest of their lives.
