I think the big challenge is that by the time your child gets to a certain age, it's unlikely you're going to hear about this type of bias. My middle schooler comes home and has so many other things she's unpacking from the day. It feels like we have to teach our kids to become advocates too.

That's such a good point. I do hear from parents a ton about the middle school health class assignments (food logs and what not), but the microagression/classroom culture stuff is for sure harder for parents to keep tabs on тАФ and frankly, nor should we be sending all the emails and advocating directly at those ages. It's much more about helping kids build the skills they need to spot the bias and push back.
