You’ve given me great joy and camaraderie throughout the year…a bad year for the country, but also for me personally. “Indulgence Gospel,” like “Somebody Somewhere” (OMG, how I love that show!) always makes me feel I am among friends. Many thanks to you (and to Corinne…I love Big Undies, too!)
I'm going to add a very personal moment of fat joy (TW for actual weights but we're talking about a cat, so hopefully not too triggering!) when my cat, whose normal weight is around 14 lbs dropped to around 11... and then with a little bit of medical treatment, chonked right back up again to 14 lbs and has held steady there for several months. He's 17, and weight loss in senior kitties is so common (and often a sign of other health issues). I have never been so happy to see a number on a scale!
I love Kam Saunders so much, thank you for including my rec here! We immediately looked him up after seeing the movie in October 2023 and following him on socials has brought so much joy to my life. Kamcouver was my favorite friendship bracelet from last weekend. Empire Waist is on my list to watch too.
Meeting Lindsey and seeing her drawings in person at her show Indelible was one of the most powerful moments of my life. She was kind enough to open the gallery to us on a Saturday. Being in this beautiful space amongst massive drawings - the emotions I felt are beyond words. I am grateful to have met her. A truly amazing human.
Adding a rom com which was not this year but that’s when I saw it on Netflix—Falling for Figaro. Sweet and funny rom com about a young woman who decided to pursue her dreams of opera singing.
She just happens to be fat, it’s never a plot line, and of course as it’s a rom com, she gets the guy.
Great list! I am so grateful for Big Undies, as a fat fashion girlie it's nice to have another space to think about these things. I want to add a huge thanks to Virginia for recommending LAUREN LEAVELL, I just got a membership and have been doing the recordings and it's really such a positive and joyful experience that is healing my relationship to working out in a cardio/weights way. So fun to see my sister’s name in this post since she talked about our fave Kam Saunders. When we saw the Eras Tour movie together last year we immediately loved his dancing and became huge fans. I am so glad she got to go to Vancouver and have the Eras Tour experience.
Kam is the absolute best. I am sad about the Eras Tour being over for a multitude of reasons, but Kam is definitely in the top three. He brought so much joy and fun to the show, which was clearly noticed by Taylor given the way that his role increased over time.
