What Are You Comfort Watching?
Because we now begin March, stick season's longest month.
We unlocked a major parenting milestone in my house last week: My 9-year-old and I are watching Gilmore Girls! No, it has not aged perfectly! But baby has to learn sometime about private school elitism and WASPS, her parents are from Connecticut after all. And yes we will be unpacking how this show gave us both the perfection of Sookie St. James and so much irritating anti-fatness (for the love of God, can they stop talking about how much junk food the Lorelais eat). But mostly, we’re watching it while eating brownies under furry blankets and if I do nothing else this weekend, which is a real possibility, that will make me happy.
March is always my least favorite month of the year, for reasons both personal and weather-related. Spring will happen officially in three weeks, but here in the Hudson Valley, it won’t feel like spring at all until mid-April at the earliest. So now is the time for digging deep on the comfort foods and cozy reads and shows. What are you watching right now? Feel free to recommend movies too, of course! Or even funny/soothing TikToks, if that’s your thing? (Is that a thing?)
(As always, be cool, and follow our Thread Ground Rules.)
Friday Links and Recs!
To aide me in deconstructing Gilmore Girls with my kid (#funmom), I am now fervently reading
, and am just so very here for their ministry. To know me is to know how much I love this marinated sheep goat cheese (I may have thanked it in the acknowledgments of my book?). And I made this (sorry, not very pretty but OMG DELICIOUS) pasta dish with it for dinner the other night on the advice of
who is never wrong on such matters:
