What Are You Reading Right Now?
And last call on the September Subscription Sale!
I realized the other day that between book revisions and the start of school, I dropped the ball on making a September Burnt Toast Book Club happen. And we haven’t done this as a thread topic since June. So we’re definitely overdue for some book talk!
What are you reading and loving right now? Bonus points if it would make a good BT Book Club pick, because I will put one on the calendar for end of October or early November, and I need ideas! But also, just share any and everything you’ve loved reading. We also don’t have to limit this to books, if you’d like to link favorite articles or newsletters or any other written word-based media you’ve adored lately. Here are a few from me to get things started:
The book I could not put down this week: Momfluenced, by our own Sara Petersen (yes I am VERY LUCKY to have received an early bound manuscript but I promise, you will want to read this next April!)
The book I started last night and will finish tonight: How To Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis. It is inspiring MANY thoughts for me about the intersections of diet culture and domestic life.
And because those are both non-fiction, the novel I can’t wait to start next: How Not To Drown in a Glass of Water by Angie Cruz. (Yes, Emily at Split Rock very sweetly asked if I was ok when I picked up this one and KC’s book in the same shopping trip.)
Your turn! Feel free to solicit specific book recs here (“seeking queer historical romance” or "in search of a searing memoir”) as well as give them. (As always, let’s keep things friendly and follow my Thread Ground Rules.)
Finally reading Aubrey Gordon’s what we don’t talk about when we talk about fat. Cannot put down. I am learning so much from this.
omg sob sob sob re MY BOOK. HEART EMOJI.
I finished Maggie Shipstead's Great Circle a month ago and CAN NOT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. Sweeping historical family saga with the coolest heroine.
