First things first: Thank you to everyone who emailed to alert us that the J. Crew quilted cocoon puffer coat I talked about in yesterday’s podcast episode is sneakily/shittily no longer available in plus sizes! This literally happened overnight, because the link was fine when Corinne put it into the transcript and when I checked it on Wednesday. And yet by Thursday morning, the coat I praised for being cut so well for larger bodies… only goes up to XL. I mean if that doesn’t clarify our whole fucking mission! (Yes I’m tagging them on social media. Feel free to do the same.)
In more cheerful news!
It’s Friday, it’s cozy season, and we haven’t talked about what we’ve been reading since September, so it’s time for a book chat thread! What are you reading and loving right now? It can be any genre and article links are also welcome.
Feel free to solicit specific book recs here too, especially if that helps your holiday shopping (“seeking queer historical romance” or "in search of a searing memoir”).
(As always, let’s keep things friendly and follow my Thread Ground Rules.)
Introducing: Friday Links!
I’m also trying out a new feature on Friday posts: Links! These will be good reads and other bits and pieces from the Internet that I’ve been thinking about over the course the week. I’ll try to keep it both short and excellent because I know link round-ups can sometimes feel like homework assignments.
Friday Links will be for paid subscribers only, but I’m going to give you one for free: It’s this piece over on the fantastic Evil Witches, where I got to weigh in on how to talk to a kid struggling with feeling like her body isn’t enough.
I also gave the witches a secret discount code and I’m going to share it with you too. Take 20 percent off your Burnt Toast subscription and you’ll get the rest of my link list — including the novel I read this week and cannot stop thinking about! — plus access to the full Friday Thread discussion, with everyone’s amazing book recs in the comments.
